The Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) has been conducting national consultations on issues for people from a refugee, humanitarian, and asylum seeking background for over 30 years. These consultations inform both our annual submission to the Government on Australia's Refugee and Humanitarian Program as well as our research, policy development, and campaign work.
Similar to previous years, we are holding a consultation in Sydney to seek feedback, suggestions and concerns from organisations working with refugees and people seeking asylum.
This year's consultation will focus on four key issues:
- Australia's response to international refugee needs
- Australia's Refugee and Humanitarian Program
- Settlement support for all humanitarian entrants
- Australia's asylum policies
We will provide a brief update about the latest developments and activities related to the policy themes. We will also hold similar consultations in Western Sydney, details of which will be sent out shortly.
