Join The Social Studio for a special Refugee Week screening of the Oscar-nominated animated documentary 'Flee', by Danish filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen. Based on the true story of Rasmussen's childhood friend, Amin, the documentary illustrates Amin's escape from Afghanistan to Denmark as a refugee, moving between past and present as he recounts stories of family, love and the after-effects of war.

There will also be a special screening of Masoomah Jawid's short fashion film 'The Arrival', which won best student film at the Melbourne Fashion Festival Fashion Film Awards in 2025. Masoomah's work explores the profound immigrant experience, delving into the emotions associated from one world and transplanted into another, drawing on her own Afghan heritage.

The screening is in support of The Social Studio's free education and training programs for refugee communities, including the flagship Cert III program in apparel, fashion and textiles. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. All tickets come with popcorn, soft drink and choc-top. There will also be door prizes for lucky cinema-goers.

Please note, 'Flee' is rated M and includes references to war and violence.

Will you come?
