Refugee Week celebrations provide an opportunity for the Australian public to celebrate the immense courage, resilience, and valuable contributions people of refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds make to Australian society.
The council organises events and programs to celebrate the contribution of people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to the Melton community during Refugee Week in June.
Refugee Week celebrations have been held in the City of Melton for the past 8 years. Each year the Refugee Council of Australia announces an exciting new theme; which is taken into consideration when organising and planning our event. Each year we engage with the community to run an exciting program of guest speakers, performances, videos, cultural food, and stalls.
