All are welcome at this Refugee Week evening to amplify the voices of refugees through speakers, music, and poetry.
An initiative of the Lower North Shore Multicultural Network with support from North Sydney, Lane Cove, Mosman and Willoughby Councils, the NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) and the Crows Nest Centre.
Please join us in acknowledging the strength and resilience of refugees and asylum seekers from Iran and Afghanistan.
Speakers include:
- Tahera Nassrat on the journey from Afghanistan and current situation for women
- Shokufeh Kavani on the Iranian freedom movement
- Rebecca Langton from the Refugee Council of Australia
- The NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS)

- Live performances of Persian Folk Music led by Ehsan Koochei
- Kavah Akbari, a performance poet on the themes of breaking the silence and identity
