Right now, millions of refugees around the world are living in uncertainty, holding tightly to their hope for a fresh start. 

Australia can lead in turning their hope into opportunity. 

In 2023, Australia pledged an additional 10,000 places for refugees arriving through complementary pathways. These are safe and legal avenues for refugees to come to Australia, based in education, professional skill and community sponsorship. They exist in addition to our current humanitarian program that welcomes up to 20,000 refugees each year. 

However, since making its pledge two years ago, Australia has only granted 400 of the visas it promised.
