The annual Refugee Week provides a platform to highlight and celebrate the strengths and positive contributions by people from refugee and asylum seekers background and create a culture of welcome in the community. Refugee Week 2022 takes place from Sunday 19 June to Saturday 25 June with the theme Healing.
In Hume, this is an annual celebration to welcome refugees and people seeking asylum and to acknowledge their contributions and achievements.
When: Tuesday 21 June 2022
Where: Hume Global Learning Centre – Craigieburn (75-95 Central Park Ave, Craigieburn)
Time: 10am – 2pm
This is a free event for the community:
- Hume Refugee Week talent showcase – with performances from community groups and individuals
- Children’s activities – face painting, clown entertainer, arts and crafts
- Services and programs information stalls*
- Lunch provided

The Refugee Week celebration in Hume is a partnership between Hume City Council, The Brotherhood of St. Laurence, Communities for Children Hume & Uniting Vic.Tas, Kangan Institute, Fire Rescue Victoria, Victoria Police, Migrant Resource Centre North West, Spectrum and DPV Health.

*DPV Health will also be on site at the Hume Global Learning Centre – Craigieburn at this event. The nursing team will be on site on Tuesday 21st June between 10am and 2pm to provide you with your next COVID-19 vaccination or Flu vaccination if eligible. You may also use this opportunity to speak with a health professional about the benefits of vaccinating against both COVID and the Flu as we head into the Winter Months.
