This year Inner West Council in partnership with Community Refugee Welcome Centre celebrate Refugee Week in a unique way with a number of online 'events' from 14 to 20 June.  This year the theme is that of Welcome. We have embraced this theme as it is central to the work we do, nevertheless, we must note that if we are to speak of ‘welcome’, we must acknowledge that in Australia, the welcome mat sits on the stolen lands of First Nations Peoples and that sovereignty was never ceded. 

Events include a beautiful Welcome to Country, a virtual art exhibition with stories from the artists, a series of international recipes, stories from our refugee communities and more. All the elements have been beautifully curated by people from refugee backgrounds.

When: The event will be live on Inner West Council website from 14 June to 20 June 2020
