Join us to celebrate Refugee Week with the launch of a new mural titled ‘A Graffiti for Jina’ at Brunswick Baths.
This year's theme, ‘Finding Freedom,’ aims to showcase the journey of refugees in finding freedom, whether it be through a new home, career, finding friendships, or ways to free others.
Join Mayor Cr Angelica Panopoulos in unveiling a new mural "A Graffiti for Jina: Respect my existence or expect my resistance" by Feminista Melbourne. The mural is dedicated to Jina Amini, a young woman whose tragic death sparked the ongoing freedom movement in Iran. Jina Amini, also known as Mahsa Amini, was born in Saqez, a city located in the Kurdish Province of Iran.
Meet local refugee advocates, engage with artists, and gain deeper insights into the diverse experiences of refugees.
Light refreshments and chalk for children to decorate the street will be available.
