Join us for a powerful and inspiring speaking session with Safi, Ambassador with the Refugee Council of Australia, centred on this year’s Refugee Week theme of ‘One Million Stories’. As a young boy growing up in Afghanistan, Safi was forced to flee to Iran twice with his family. In 2005, Safi left Afghanistan once again, this time to pursue higher education - however in 2021 the Taliban returned to power, and his family at home were in danger.

Safi will share with you a deeply personal story of displacement, rebuilding, and belonging—offering a meaningful opportunity to move beyond headlines and connect with the human realities of seeking safety. This event creates space to listen, reflect, and engage with stories that highlight both the challenges and the remarkable contributions of people from refugee backgrounds.
