Join us in the park on 4 June as we film our completed Refugee Week Community Project!

Over 30 community groups have come together to create a giant, colourful welcome message to show that the Sunshine Coast welcomes refugees, and respects their human rights and dignity.

Come along from 12pm for a sausage sizzle. If you can only attend the filming of the message please arrive at 1pm.

We will be joined by Christine Stuart from Bulu Yabun who will conduct a Welcome to Country. Christine is the author of two Gubbi Gubbi children's language books: https://buluyabun.com/languagebooks/
Refugee Week, 19 - 22 June 2022, is Australia’s peak annual activity to inform the public about refugees and celebrate positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.

This is also an opportunity for the Sunshine Coast community to call for Australia’s refugee and Humanitarian intake to be increased, so that we can do our part to assist people fleeing crises such as those in Myanmar, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.

The giant message will be on display at the Sonder Studio Gallery in Cooroy from 18 - 26 June as part of an exhibition of artworks by refugees living, or who have lived, in refugee camps including on Nauru.

Follow us on facebook to see each of the individual letters being created and the video of the complete message will be posted on World Refugee Day, 20 June. (8) Sunshine Coast Refugee Action Network - SCRAN | Facebook
