Come and watch powerful films focusing on the plight of refugees and people seeking asylum in finding freedom.

Lovren: My life as a refugee

In this short documentary, professional footballer Dejan Lovren, shares his family’s story and experience as a refugee. His family was forced to flee their village in central Bosnia Herzegovina at the beginning of the war in 1992, when he was just 3 years old. They ended up in Munich in Germany, where they lived as refugees for 7 years before moving to Croatia to start a new life.

The film will be interpreted in Chinese followed by refreshments.

The Swimmers

Two young Syrian sisters flee their war-torn home in Damascus. They swim for hours in choppy Mediterranean seas to reach Greece as asylum seekers before going on to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The film is in English with Chinese subtitles.

Rating: PG-13
