In recognition of World Refugee Day, this RESIG symposium is focusing on the UN-set theme of Partnering for the Sustainable Development Goals. Goal #4 is to “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. We will firstly hear from a panel of people from a spectrum of lived experiences of educational access for people from asylum-seeking and refugee backgrounds. We will then have a showcase of four successful educational partnerships across the TAFE, University, community and employment levels. You will hear about the educational access being facilitated within these projects from across the country, and how the people involved moved, from not having any partnership, to their current working relationships and joint projects.
Importantly, at the end, there will be an opportunity for small group discussions about the possibilities of how and with who, in your own site-specific contexts, you might start a conversation that could generate a similar partnerships for change.
We look forward to you joining us!
