When one door closes...

When one door closes...

Sidiqa and her family were meant to resettle in the United States in late 2016. They’d fled Afghanistan and had been living in limbo in Indonesia for four years, eagerly awaiting this chance.

But the first Trump administration imposed a travel ban and suspended its refugee resettlement program, leaving tens of thousands of refugees – including Sidiqa and her family – without a path to safety.

It would be a whole decade before one country finally extended the hand of kindness to them and gave them a place to call home – Australia.

As the US and Europe close their hearts and their doors, we have a duty of care to people like Sidiqa – people who urgently need an act of kindness.

This tax time, you can help elevate the Refugee Council of Australia’s impact in the global story during this critical moment in our history.
